Florida Hospital Ginsburg Tower and Downtown Campus Expansion

Over a period of five years, DRMP performed conceptual design, civil engineering design and various studies for the expansion of Florida Hospital Orlando’s Ginsburg Tower project. To build the Ginsburg Tower, multiple campus improvements were necessary.  A new 30,000-SF energy office building, two new parking garages and a realignment of Rollins Avenue were designed and constructed prior to the completion of the hospital expansion.

Staff designed the new patient tower to create an atmosphere that reduces stress, replenishes the spirit and is visually appealing.  The project was delivered in a design-build methodology with all key stakeholders working together to conceptualize and design a healing environment, which was important to Florida Hospital and their patients. DRMP provided permitting coordination with the City of Orlando, St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), CSX Corporation and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).

Upon completion, the Florida Hospital Orlando’s 15-story patient tower, which houses 440-patient beds, was one of the largest emergency departments and one of the largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country at the time of its construction.  The expansion marked Florida Hospital’s 100th year of service to the Central Florida community.
