Horn Spring Restoration

The Northwest Florida Water Management District (NWFWMD) required shoreline and pool restoration for Horn Spring due to a natural accumulation of sediments and debris. The agency also requested public access improvements at the second magnitude spring on state-owned lands along the St. Marks River in Leon County, Fla.

DRMP completed topographic surveying services to aid in the spring’s restoration. Survey experts also used a remotely operated vessel outfitted with a sonar and robotic total station unit to produce detailed bathymetric surveys of the vent and surrounding pool. Three-dimensional static views were provided, including a 3D Adobe file format to view any orientation of the pool.

With the help of DRMP’s surveying expertise and project deliverables, spring users will have an improved experience.
