DRMP Welcomes Alia Awwad, PE, as Planning Group Lead for Transportation
July 22nd, 2025
ORLANDO, Fla. – DRMP has hired Alia Awwad, PE, as Planning Group Lead for Transportation. In this role, Awwad will support the growth and advancement of DRMP’s Project Development and Environmental Services (PDES) team with a focus on expanding the firm’s transportation planning practice across Florida.
DRMP’s PDES team provides services related to project development and pre-engineering functions including planning, grant writing, Project Development and Environment (PD&E)/National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, as well as environmental studies and permitting.
Awwad brings 22 years of experience in transportation planning and engineering. She previously served as Florida Regional Director for Alta Planning + Design, Inc., DRMP’s partner firm under the Trilon family of companies, where she helped expand Alta’s presence and services throughout the state.
Her experience includes leading a wide range of projects, such as mobility master plans, corridor feasibility studies, innovative multimodal project design and implementation, and community involvement initiatives.
“Over the past couple of years, Alta and DRMP have been collaborating on various efforts across the state,” Awwad said. “By joining DRMP, I hope to contribute to the growth of the planning sector across the firm to help create a seamless transportation project delivery process.”
Awwad will lead planning initiatives at DRMP for municipal, county, and state clients, while working closely with colleagues across disciplines to further develop an integrated transportation planning practice. Her goal is to align planning efforts with engineering and construction services to deliver more cohesive, efficient projects.
“DRMP is well set up to launch a multimodal transportation planning practice that serves our clients comprehensively,” Awwad said. “This is thanks to the many supportive practices that show DRMP has what it takes in both visionary planning and technical and engineering competency.”
DRMP PD&E Division Leader Joce Pritchett, PE, said Awwad’s extensive experience and strong network will bring new opportunities to the firm.
“Alia has a great blend of experience and fresh ideas that will help DRMP grow its planning practice and deliver even better projects for our clients,” Pritchett said. “She has built some valuable relationships throughout the state that will benefit our team and clients. We’re really looking forward to working with her.”
Awwad expressed her excitement about joining the firm.
“I am elated that I will be joining my friends at DRMP,” she said. “I cherish the relationships that I was fortunate to develop with DRMP colleagues over the past couple of years while I was at Alta and look forward to working more closely with everyone.”
