Critical Bridge Replacement Improves Safer Mountain Access in Highlands, N.C.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) tasked DRMP, under a continuing services contract, with providing design and engineering services for a critical bridge replacement on Dillard Road (State Road 106). This road serves as a major access route into Highlands from northern Georgia, crossing Middle Creek on the slopes of Scaly Mountain. DRMP delivered multiple services, including roadway and structural design, bridge hydraulics analysis, drainage design, traffic control planning, pavement marking and signing, and erosion control.

Florida SR 50 Widening Improves Safety and Wildlife Connectivity in Withlacoochee State Forest

A 21-mile stretch of Florida’s State Road (SR) 50 remained one of the highway’s last two-lane segments, creating safety concerns for drivers navigating heavy truck traffic and limited passing opportunities. Frustration on the narrow roadway led to risky maneuvers and increased crashes. That began to change with a $70 million FDOT project to widen an 8-mile section of SR 50 into a safer, four-lane divided highway with DRMP serving as prime design consultant.
